Showed her true colours: Reveal ones true nature
Skip clases: Play truant, stay away from school
A couch potato: A very lazy person
Black and blue: Badly bruised
Boockworm: someone who reads a lot
Was caught red-handed: Catch someone commiting a crime

VOCABULARY UNIT 1

Relatives: your relatives are the members of your family

Tactful: if you use tactful to describe someone or something they say or do, you approve of them

Tactless: if you describe something as tactless, you think what they say or do is likely to offend other people

Sluggish: you can describe something as sluggish if it moves or works much slower than you would like

Foolish: if you feel foolish, you feel silly or ridiculous that people are likely to laugh at you.

I can't help...!: to not be able to control or stop something

What is WWF?


  • WWF is one of the world's largest conservation organizations.
  • It was conceived on the 29th April 1961.
  • WWF is an independent foundation registered under Swiss law.
  • The organization has offices  in more than 80 countries around the world.

What is WWF's mission?

WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by: 

  1. conserving the world’s biological diversity
  2. ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable
  3. promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.
In order to achieve this mission, WWF broadly focuses its efforts on two broad areas: 
 

  • Biodiversity - to ensure that the earth web of life stays healthy and vibrant for generations to come.
  • Footprint - reducing the negative impacts of human activity - our ecological footprint - and that the use of natural resources required for life are managed sustainably and equitably.
